How well does this trastion into Unity 2019’s new "Animation Rigging "System (available in the Project Manager)

I’ve followed this project to the letter and I must say it is excellent; however, i’m having difficulties managing the arms as I set another layer with a mask for right hand/left hand in the hopes to blend them in the game. Unfortunately, it seems my animations won’t play when the movement blend tree/movementInput is set. Any ideas/books/articles would be much appreciated as i’m stumped!
